Following a top 10 trend of the year 2010 in the United States, 2Networkit.com falls directly as the solution to keep a business successful during the economic downfall wehave seen here in Canada. Here are a few trends from Gartner.com:

Cut IT costs:

1.       Negotiate better prices from vendors
2.       Use server, storage or desktop virtualisation
3.       Standardize technologies, vendors
4.       Consolidate data centers, servers, storage
5.       Purchase IT products as part of a group

Ubiquitous smart phones in the hands of time pressured customers are too big and opportunity to ignore:

1.       72% of IT executive said Mobile commerce will account for 25% or more of all retail sales in the U.S.
2.       60% of IT executive said more than 25% of all banks transactions in the U.S. will be made over mobile devices.

Virtualization becomes a foundation technology:

       69% of correspondents say in the next five years it is likely their company will reduce servers/storage devices by 50% or more due to virtualization and data reduplication.

Until companies learn to do more with less data, there’s no end in site to the demand for storage:

91% of responders say it is likely the amount of data their company stores will more than double annually by 2013.
